As human beings we tend to forget things. Sometimes even our friends names are foirgotten. However, we should never forget the benefits of the cross that Jesus purchased with His own Blood for us.

In Exodus 29:38-39 the Israelites were to sacrifice a lamb on the altar in the morning and evening. This is how we should be remembering the benefits of the cross. Night and day…because we do forget.

Psalms 103:1-5 tells us not to forget all His benefits”.

Some of the Benefits to remember:

1. Gift of Righteousness

Romans 5:17 “For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ”.

When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, He exchanges our sin for His gift of Righteousness. We become righteous at the exact moment that we give our life to Jesus. THE SENSE OF SIN IS THE GREATEST BLOCKAGE TO AN EFFECTIVE WALK WITH JESUS. 1 John 1:9 – Whenever you sin, run quickly to the cross and ask for forgiveness and He will cleanse you and forgive you completely.

James 5:16 says “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much”. When we pray, our prayers have great power with God and this is why the devil tries to stop every Christian from praying.

2. Divine Health

1 Peter 2:24 “who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed”.

God has already told you what he thinks about all your sickness. He died on the cross so that you can be healthy and well. So put that scripture and other healing scriptures from the bible and rebuke the devil and claim your healing from God.

Israel came out of Egypt completely healed – Psalms 105:37. There were millions of them and so there must have been thousands that suffered from some sickness before they left Eygpt. But when they came out something happened that made them completely healthy. It was the lamb that they ate by faith. God had commanded them to eat all of it and leave nothing by morning. So the deaf ate the ear and the blind ate the eyes and so on. What a glorious miracle then and this is also available to us today through the cross.

3. Abrahamic Blessing

Galatians 3:13-14 “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”, 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”.

This is another great benefit for you to remember. Did Abraham prosper? Yes!!! Was Abraham healthy until he was really old? Yes!!! Did he have a close relationship with God? Yes!!! Was his children blessed? Yes!!!

That is all the blessing of Abraham and so when Jesus died on the cross, He removed every curse from your life and gave you the Blessing of Abraham. All you need to do is believe that the blessing is on you and walk by faith that the blessing is on your life.

4. Divine Supply

Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”.

From the moment that we gave our lives to Jesus, God took personal responsibility for our well-being and needs. This is a different way of thinking. With the worldly way of thinking, we have to take personal responsibility for our own needs. That is partly true in the sense that we need to go to work and work hard. But the worry for our family and needs should not rest totally on our shoulders, They need to rest on God’s shoulders.

If you always worry about everything, then it’s time to transfer that worry to God. Refer Matthew 6:25- “Take no thought for your life…”

Malachi 3:10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.

Tithing is God’s divine method of meeting all your need. If you look after God’s house, God will look after your house. It’s very simple but very hard for many people. But as they continue to give, God surprises them in so many different ways.

5. Eternal Life

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”

When we measure eternity against this life, we realize that this life is only a drop compared to the life that we will live forever after death. The unfortunate reality is that a lot of people live their lives as if this temporal life will be forever. They invest most of their time and energy towards building a life here and they don’t pay much attention to investing in the Kingdom of God.

A lot of people will be shocked when they wake up in the next life.

The benefit is life with Jesus. The only thing we need to do is believe in Jesus and serve Him faithfully.
