A Brief Summary Of The Sermon

There are 5 types of fools we will look at today. Although there are more as mentioned in scripture, we will focus on these 5 types and look at scriptures that mentions other types as well. These are:

1. Careless Fools – Matthew 7:24-27

This person builds his life on unnecessary things that do not last. Sand is not solid and is not suitable for building a strong foundation for life. A very important part of all computers and mobile phone technology is the silicon chip. Silicon is really the same substance as sand. This is a message to the modern church to be careful of trusting or being addicted to phones. We should be building our lives on the Word of God and not on the shifting sands of smart phones and modern distractions.

2. Hypocritical Fools

They look like very committed followers of Jesus but they live a double life. They live carnally after the flesh. They appear on Sundays but live for themselves the rest of the week.

3. Sleeping Fools – Matthew 25:1-13

This passage of scripture is a parable of 5 foolish virgins and 5 wise virgins. They did not prepare thoroughly and allowed their lamps to go out in the middle of the night. They are also lazy followers.

4. Materialistic Fools – Luke 12:16

This rich man had a large farm and was wealthy. His focus was on his wealth and he wanted to build a big barn to store up his produce and his wealth. But he died. All that wealth was of no use to his eternal future.

So many people get so focused on their possessions that they miss out on what is more important with God.

5. Unbelieving Fool – Luke 24:25

There are people don’t believe in God. Psalms 14:1 says that the fool says in his heart that there is no God. This type of people end up only seeking blessings from God but they don’t have the desire to seek God’s face for who He is.
