2 Tim 1:12  For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day”.

This verse is an very encouraging verse and has four truths that helps us in our walk with God.

1. I know

Paul knew the Lord and could write that he knew who he believed. We should not just know about Jesus as part of our religious duty but instead, we should know him personally. We need to know Jesus for ourselves. Just as Paul, Peter, James and John knew Jesus, we need to know Jesus.

2. He is able

The same God who created the universe is able to do anything in your world. This is such a powerful truth. He is able. Not He might be able but He IS able.

When you are struggling in some way, look to Jesus. He is able to abundantly above all that we can ask or think.

3. To keep

Just as Paul could trust Jesus to keep his soul safe from all the things in this world, we can also trust Jesus to keep us safe. There are many temptations and dangers but God is able to keep us. Whatever we hold as dear and holy, we can commit to God and trust Him to keep those things safely.

4. That day

Paul writes about that day. This is about the day of Judgement when we will receive our rewards. There will be a day of judgement and we should be ready for that. How do we get ready? By knowing Jesus in a personal relationship. By surrendering our lives to Jesus and serving Him faithfully for the rest of our lives.

There are good works of helping the poor, visiting prison, praying for the sick and more, which is part of our walk and works with the Lord. We will be examined in these areas as well on the day of Judgement.

Finally, in closing…do you know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour? Commit your life to Him and let Him lead you and guide your everyday life.
